ABOUT SHEVETTE
A career built around people. A life lived through many chapters.
For more than three decades, I built a career across global technology organizations. My work spanned customer service, technical support, consulting, operations, product, and people leadership. Across every role, I paid attention to how people experience the work, the change, and one another.
The relationships mattered as much as the work. I built lasting connections with team members, colleagues, customers, and leaders. Many continued well beyond the role, project, or company that first brought us together. They deepened what I understand about trust, leadership, growth, and the effect we have on one another.
A LIFE SHAPED WITH INTENTION
The life I value most has been built through relationships.
The importance I place on relationships has shaped the life I built beyond work, too.
Long before I knew what my career might become, I imagined success and stability as a connected family, a home, an education, children who were thriving, and work I could feel proud of.
My early life included many moves, new schools, and family separations. I became a mother young, which deepened my sense of responsibility and clarified the kind of life I wanted to build. Those experiences taught me that a meaningful life takes shape over time, through choices, relationships, and a willingness to keep learning.
What I am proudest of is the family culture my husband, Golden, and I have continued to create: one shaped by connection, conversation, forgiveness, acceptance, laughter, and love expressed openly.
Deep friendships have also been an essential part of that life. I have built and sustained relationships across many seasons, shaped by honesty, mutual care, laughter, and showing up for one another.
Across work and life, these relationships have shaped how I meet people now. I listen for the whole story, respect the context surrounding a decision, and understand each chapter as part of a life that is still being written.
This shapes how I coach. I believe people can honor the experiences that formed them, remain the authors of their own choices, and continue creating lives that feel meaningful to them.
A life is rarely one story. It is many chapters, still being written.
MY CAREER JOURNEY
Nonlinear, deeply connected, and always moving closer to the people experience.
The roles and industries changed, but each chapter expanded how I understood people, organizations, responsibility, and meaningful work.
Jobs before career
My first jobs were hourly customer service roles, long before I was thinking about building a career. I learned how to deliver news people could hear, including how to say no without leaving someone feeling dismissed. When I discovered the idea of customer delight, I was all in.
Technical support and first leadership
Technical support became my entry into HR technology. I moved into my first manager role and built a 24/7/365 support team across San Francisco, New York, and Quebec City. The work grounded my love of customer experience, team trust, and high levels of service.
Confidence changed the trajectory
While leading that team, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco. The qualification opened doors, but the deeper change was confidence. Completing something hard changed the stories I told myself about what I could pursue.
Consulting widened the view
I moved into Recruiting Management System consulting, then implementation consulting across talent management and Core HR. I learned to pay attention to both the process in the room and the people experiencing it.
Global work deepened the perspective
As an independent Talent Management Consultant, I helped organizations develop, implement, execute, and improve talent strategies. Projects across the Caribbean, North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia expanded how I understood culture, organizations, and change.
Complexity became a teacher
At Workday, Services Operations deepened my understanding of influence, accountability, and how people experience significant change.
Leadership beyond the role
As co-lead of The Talented Tenth, Workday’s Black Employee Belonging Council, I helped create connection, allyship, community programs, and opportunities that expanded access and supported the growth and advancement of underrepresented talent.
Product brought the chapters together
Product leadership brought together systems thinking, customer experience, people leadership, and more opportunities to mentor, coach, and help others recognize their gifts.
THE PEOPLE EXPERIENCE
I pay attention to what people say and what the room is saying.
Expressions. Energy. Who leans in. Who pulls back. Who has not yet found space to speak. Trust can be built through a clear message, a hallway conversation, a thoughtful question, a little music after lunch, laughter at the right moment, or helping a team recognize the gifts already present within it. Those details are not separate from serious work. They often make serious work more possible.
WHY COACHING
Coaching was the thread. Eventually, I made it the work.
Inside and outside of work, people have come to me when they needed space to think, a candid perspective, a question they had not considered, or someone who could help them recognize what they already carried.
Coaching gave that longstanding thread greater intention, structure, and a professional home. I bring presence, perspective, candor, and a deep respect for your ability to decide what comes next.
| Serious work can still include laughter. Usually, it should.
